2023 NBD @NYCU!! (Session 2)

After the success of the first Biomechanics Day at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) on July 28th, we have decided to host a second session in response to the overwhelmingly positive feedback from parents and students and organized by Bing-Shiang Yang, the President of Taiwanese Society of Biomechanics and Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of NYCU and his team from the Biomechanics and Medical Application Laboratory.

Thirty high school students from several cities participated in the event where they learned about the basic principles and practical applications of biomechanics and the links to high-school curriculum and their personal interests.

The students were given the opportunity to experience the approach of human motion analysis and biomechanics research through interactive activities that utilized a motion capture system, force plates, and an electromyography (EMG) signal acquisition system.

In a group fun competition, the students gain knowledge and skills about how various biomechanical parameters affect motor control performance. Students expressed their appreciation on gaining understanding of what biomechanics could do and finding their potential study directions in this one-day workshop.

National Biomechanics Day is a worldwide celebration of Biomechanics in its many forms for high school students and teachers every year. Taiwanese Society of Biomechanics will continue cooperating with the NBD organization to promote biomechanics.
